Serge Gnabry was on song against Werder and scored his third Bundesliga hat-trick. He was at the end of almost all the Bayern attacks and was ruthless in his finishing as well. The German started the match on the right wing but later had to shift to the left for the injured Sadio Mane. His first goal was a beautiful curler; his second was an easy tap-in; and he used all his class and composure in his third goal as he controlled the ball in a crowded area and rolled it past the goalkeeper.
Leroy Sane was forced to come onto the pitch in the 20th minute for an injured Sadio Mane and immediately affected the game with an assist for Serge Gnabry in the 28th minute. The German international was also involved in Bayern’s fifth goal as he released Noussair Mazaroui, who went on to give an assist to Gnabry.
Bayern Munich now sits at the top of the table with a four-point lead over Union Berlin and will be trying to win their final game of the year against Schalke on Saturday. Werder, on the other hand, would try to improve their performance as they face tough competition against RB Leipzig in their next match.
