The goalkeeper lost his place in the starting line-up of the Bundesliga side but is eager to take his chance once the young goalkeeper moves to Bayern.

Ralf Fahrmann says he’s determined to take his chance and regain the starting job at Schalke next season when Alexander Nubel moves into Bayern Munich.

The 31-year-old went on loan to Premier League side Norwich City this year but played just 22 minutes of league football.

The kind of Tim Krul maintained Fahrmann on the seat, and he was hurt in the first half of his only league start for the Canaries, a 2-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.

A lifeline in Schalke has opened up but as a result of Nubel agreeing to join Bayern Munich on a free transfer this summer, signing a last-minute thing.

It gives Fahrmann a chance to revive his Schalke career, and it’s a chance he’s determined to take.

He advised Transfermarkt: “I need a reasonable opportunity, and once I get it, I am quite convinced that I could be No. 1 again. But it’s also clear, I do not want to get anything for free.”

Before then, Fahrmann is eager to get back playing regular football with Brann after the season can resume, showing that he used a training kit by himself to keep fit.

As with Norwich, he’s joining a side with a proven goalkeeper at Markus Schubert, however, he believes he can win his place in the starting 11.

He explained: “It has been determined that we are able to train in small groups using a secure space. I am able to use the other goalkeepers again.

“I packed my car with balls, training dummies and hats and did a little for myself to the court to be as healthy as possible.

“Three months ago, needless to say, I was in various conditions. I hope that the beginning of the season won’t be postponed again and I can play a couple more games before the end of June.”
