Dortmund vs Leipzig – Betting Preview

When they play home to RB Leipzig on Friday night, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to earn their 10th straight victory across all competitions and take the lead in the Bundesliga standings.

If Leipzig wins at Signal Iduna Park, they might gain one point on their rivals and Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

Dortmund Preview

Dortmund continued their perfect form since returning from the World Cup with a 1-0 win away to struggling Hoffenheim last weekend, with Julian Brandt’s 43rd-minute strike enough to keep them level on points with Bayern at the top of the table.

Although the hosts had their moments in the intriguing game, BVB dominated the match at Rhein-Neckar Arena, pushing opponent goalkeeper Oliver Baumann into 10 saves over the course of the 90 minutes.

With a home game against Leipzig on Friday, Edin Terzic’s team enters the most crucial week of the season so far with the chance to perhaps eliminate one title contender as a win would put them seven points ahead of their previous manager Marco Rose’s team.

Having won each of their last nine matches, Terzic and his players could hardly head into this important match with more confidence of navigating their way through them with positive results, as they look to prove this season will not be another false dawn for the Yellow Wall.

Leipzig Preview

Leipzig, meanwhile, showed great character to recover from their 2-1 home loss to Union Berlin last month, winning two difficult games against Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt to maintain their position in the Bundesliga’s championship race.

Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg’s goals gave Die Roten Bullen a comfortable 2-0 lead over Frankfurt at the half. Frankfurt fought back, though, and Djibril Sow’s goal just after the hour mark gave Frankfurt a point.

On Friday night, they have a good opportunity of ending Dortmund’s recent winning streak, especially as Rose is expected to be even more motivated than usual to defeat his former team!

1×2 Betting Odds

Let’s analyse the 1×2 betting market.

Leipzig’s trip to Dortmund on Friday is more of a must-not-lose game than a must-win one because at this juncture in the season, they cannot afford to fall seven points behind their title rivals.

There is a potential that Rose can exact revenge on his previous team because Nkunku is expected to return to their starting lineup, but considering the stakes, we should expect a cagey match with even split of the spoils a big possibility!

A look at the betting market tells us Dortmund are the slight favourites @ 2.37.

Leipzig are not that far behind though, with odds @ 3.16.

The market odds of a stalemate and points shared, stands @ 3.89.

Total goals over/under

Let’s analyse the over/under market.

The odds that the total number of goals scored will be over 2.5, stands @ 1.71.

While the odds that the total number of goals will be under 2.5, stands @ 2.39.

Both these sides play an attacking style of football, so as the over/under market predicts, expect a few goals in this one!
