On Saturday, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich will meet in the DFL Supercup six days before the start of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season. Given what Bayern Munich have achieved in the DFL Supercup in recent years, the Bundesliga champions should easily eliminate the DFL-Pokal holder. This is the first significant honour for RB Leipzig, having previously lost in the 2019 and 2021 Pokal finals. DFL-Pokal is their first Grand Slam title since the Red Bulls were formed only 13 years ago.

RB Leipzig vs FC Bayern Munich h2h

Both the teams have met each other 14 times, and as Bayern Munich is one of the strongest teams in the Bundesliga, it leads this tie with a heavy margin. Munich has won 10 times, Leipzig has managed to win only on one occasion, and the other three matches ended in a draw. The one match won by Leipzig was at their home stadium, the Red Bull Arena, where they played Munich 8 times, and they won 6 times and one game ended in a draw. These two teams go head to head in many aspects. Although Munich is more substantial, they get tough competition from many groups in Bundesliga.

The biggest aggregate score in a match between these two was nine goals when Munich defeated RB Leipzig 5-4 in a Bundesliga game in 2017; in that game, Leipzig was leading the game at halftime 2-1, but Munich turned the tables in the second half. Two goals in the added time by Alaba and Robben saved the day for Munich. However, that game was remembered for the outstanding performance by Timo Werner, who scored two goals.

Bayern has won thrice in the past five meetings, and the other two matches were drawn. Bayern holds a strong position in the Super Cup Finals, and it will be a no-brainer that the result will be in favour of them unless Leipzig comes with something extraordinary.

RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig played two friendlies in their preseason, called the International Club Friendly, where they went head to head with two English teams, Liverpool and Southampton. The first game was against Southampton, where they defeated them 3-1, where the goals were scored in the second half after the pretty first half. The second game against Liverpool was a humiliating defeat for Leipzig as they were trashed 5-0, and in that game, Liverpool‘s new player Darwin Nunez scored four goals.

Bayern Munich

Munich was also part of the International Club Friendly, where they met the English Champions Manchester City and an MLS team DC United. First, they went up against DC United, where they were at ease and won games 6-2; in this game, both the new signings Sadio Mane and De Ligt scored for the team. In their second friendly against the English Champions, it was a close game, but Munich lost 1-0, and Erling Haaland, the former BVB player, scored the goal though De Ligt displayed a good performance in defence when he was bought on in the 52nd minute.

Well, the odds are in favour of the Bundesliga Champions to win the Supercup against RB Leipzig, and we feel the same too. Let us know in the comments section what your predictions are.
