RB Leipzig will host Club Brugge on Tuesday in matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League 2021-22 at the Red Bull Arena.

We look at some stats to predict the match.

RB Leipzig surely would have wanted a better start in the UCL than what they had two weeks ago. They were thrashed by Manchester City 6-3 away from home and it most certainly raises questions in Jeff Marsch’s team’s defence. Their defence was ripped into shreds every time City went to attack and the scoreline tells the same. Marsch and his men need to make a strong comeback in the tournament and with the likes of PSG, Manchester City in the same group they would certainly aim to win this match against Club Brugge.

Christopher Nkunku scored a hattrick on the opening day and was the only player to looked threatening while going forward for Leipzig. He would be a vital player in this matchup if the home side wants to come out on top. They have scored three goals from an xG of 2.90, which is a positive sign for the club.

UCL Preview : RB Leipzig vs Club Brugge

Club Brugge would travel to Germany with an air of confidence around them, after they held PSG to a 1-1 draw in the first match, in a match they were definitely not considered the favourites.

It was a very comprehensive performance from the Belgian side as they can boast about the fact that they were the more threatening team while going forward against PSG and were able to keep the likes of Neymar, Mbappe and Messi easily at bay. This confidence will certainly help Brugge in their match against Leipzig, where they can totally believe that taking away all the three points is very much feasible.

They have scored only one goal so far from an xG of 1.39.

UCL Preview : RB Leipzig vs Club Brugge

RB Leipzig have the lowest number of shots on target above (3) but the fact that they scored goals from all three shots on target in a match where they were completely dominated by their opponents, is a reminder of how lethal they can be if they get inside the penalty box. The only concern is that Nkunku was the one to take all the shots while others had nothing to show from the match. Nkunku needs proper support from his other teammates if Leipzig wants to overcome the challenge on Tuesday.

Club Brugge had 14 shots against PSG, keeping five of them on target. They were quite wasteful in the attacking third as they could convert the only goal from those shots. Brugge needs to be 100% clinical and take full advantage of the chances they create otherwise it might prove difficult for them to defeat Leipzig away from home, who have scored six goals in their weekend Bundesliga match against Hertha Berlin at home and are more than ready for this upcoming fixture.

RB Leipzig have a lot of concerns as they will miss Marcelo Saracchi, Marcel Halstenberg, Dani Olmo and Tyler Adams due to injury problems. Angelino will also miss the match after picking up a red card in the last match.

Club Brugge will also be without Ruud Vormer and Jose Izquierdo for the match.

We predict a 3-2 victory for RB Leipzig.
